Drama: Finding Books

Finding Books

The Library Catalogue is the best place to start searching for books, most (but not all) ebooks, non-book media (DVDs, CDs, microflm, etc.) and Ulster dissertations. Try it out using the search box below. Use the left hand results filters to limit by Format, to find various types of material.

To search by language, use the "More Options" beneath the search box  to help you. For example if you want a book on "trees" written in Irish,  you can search the Catalogue by typing in "crainn" at  Keyword.  Alternatively you can type in "trees", and "limit by language" selecting Irish as the limiting language.

Reading Lists on the Library website are electronic versions of the lecturers' reading lists which can include references to books, e-books, journals and e-journal articles, scanned articles/book chapters and websites.  The list has been linked to items in the catalogue to speed up your searches.

Reading lists can be located in two ways:

  • From either the Home view or Student view on Portal, select the Library tile, and follow the Quick links on the Library homepage to Reading Lists.
  • Go directly to the Library Home page and select Reading Lists from the Quick Links section

This will take you to the searchable reading list screen.  You can browse by faculty / subject area and view all the reading lists for that topic, or search by keyword or module code in the search box at the top right of the page. If searching by module code do not include spaces, e.g. enter LAW132 not LAW 132;

Requesting or Reserving Books

You may request or reserve books from any campus whether they are on loan or not, using the 'Reserve this item' button in the Library catalogue.

Choose where you want to collect the item and you will be notified when it is available to collect. (Two day Loan material is excluded).

Where are Drama books shelved?

Drama books at Magee are shelved on the top floor of the Library.

Books with an 8 prefix to the class mark are pamphlets and are shelved in pamphlet boxes within the normal book sequence.

Books with an O prefix are oversize and are shelved at the end of the overall book sequence in the oversize book section located on the left hand side when coming up the stairs.  Reference books, with a REF prefix are also shelved on the left hand side when coming up the stairs and can easily be identified by yellow shelfmark labels on the spine of the book.

Here are some shelf numbers (shelfmarks) to get you started.
