 A joint resource between the two Northern Ireland universities, ARK was established in 2000. ARK has a single goal: to make social science information on Northern Ireland available to the widest possible audience.

It collates and directs research regarding life and society in Northern Ireland. It contains several research banks, including surveys; publications including briefing papers and research updates; information on politics and conflict and other useful data about Northern Ireland which is often diffcult to find.

SCIE has devoted considerable effort to making available high quality information relating to social work, social care and youth work (due to the overlap relating to children and young people).

The tab marked 'Children' on the task bar contains extensive free information, videos and guides, including about children and young people leaving care and transitioning to independent life.

SCIE Resources and Services A-Z  lets you browse by topic, source type or region (e.g. Northern Ireland)

Research  Mindedness contains resources looking at why research is important to social care and to whom it is important; information on ethics of research; how to find information and assess its quality and a series of useful reference links if you want to find out more.

Under the ELearning Resources section are a series of tutorials and practice based elements showing how information (of all types, levels and formats) is essential in the day to day life of someone working within social work or social care.
