Non-Athens resources

A small number of resources don't use Athens authentication at all, so you'll need a separate password for these.

Check the Electronic Journals Catalogue  and the A-Z Database List for specifics.

See the example provided below:

Other access issues

Sometimes access may be unavailable due to subscription restrictions.

Common restrictions include:

Using RefWorks

The Library Refworks guide should answer most problems.

There are a number of specific issues:

  • Internet Explorer 9 should have compatibility view enabled - go to 'Tools' and tick 'Compatibility View'.
  • Proquest databases should have the Pop up Blocker switched off for these sites.

Browsers

The Library's electronic resources are compatible with all Internet Browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.

Some browser tips

  • Delete cookies on a regular basis:
open the Tools tab on your browser and choose the option 'Delete Cookies'
  • Can't see new pages? Make sure your pop up blocker is turned off - again find this in the Tools tab.
