Coleraine and Magee Libraries use the Library of Congress classification scheme to arrange book stock in a subject sequence on the shelves.
Most of the relevant book stock for International Politics is in the D-F and in the J-JX sections.
History is classified in D-F. It is important to remember that political issues may be classified within history. For example, German reunification, the Northern ireland, 'Troubles', ethnic issues and the diplomatic relations of one state to another are classified here.
Constitutional history and political structures such as the United Nations are in J-JX.
Books with an 8 prefix to the class mark are pamphlets and are shelved in pamphlet boxes within the normal book sequence. Books with an O prefix are oversize and are shelved at the end of the overall book sequence in the oversize book section in Reading Room 2.
