A Database is basically an online index to information sources including journal articles (and sometimes books and reports).

Databases are the most efficient way to search for articles in journals (magazines) for subjects or people's names.

There are certain common elements you should think about, no matter which database you want to use.The Library's Information Skills Tutorial will help you identify your search terms (keywords) to help you make the most of your database searches.
