British National Formulary (BNF): Searching

User guide for British National Formulary (BNF)

Searching

  • BNF (British National Formulary) and BNFC (British National Formulary for Children) are hosted by MedicinesComplete along with Stockley’s Drug Interactions.  These are the three products we have access to in MedicinesComplete.
  • You can browse by section or use the Search box.  You can use the drop down menu to search in BNFC or Stockley's Drug Interactions or search all three products together.

Enter your search terms in the box provided, ensuring you have selected the correct database from the scrolling list on the right hand side.

  • BNF/C will auto-complete relevant search terms when you enter the first three letters. Click to select the appropriate result from the options displayed in the drop down list.

Example: Searching for Paracetamol in the BNF:

  • Ensure that the database selected is BNF
  • Input your search term in the box provided
  • You do not need to use AND connectors when searching
