Searching the Literature: Types of Reviews

How can we help?

There are many different types of reviews, the two most well known are literature reviews and systematic reviews.

Systematic reviews are most commonly seen in health and medicine and a variation of this, the systematic literature review, is becoming more popular in computing, engineering and built environment subjects.

Ulster University staff and students can now access Cochrane Interactive Learning. A series of eleven online learning modules covering areas such as, searching, selecting, analysing and writing systematic reviews.

CEBE researchers carrying out systematic literature reviews should contact the CEBE Team Librarians.

For researchers carrying out a Systematic Review as part of a health or medical multidisciplinary team, you may find the Life and Health Sciences guide to Evidence Based Practice and Systematic Reviews useful.
