Scanning Service for Copyright Material

The Library offers a centralised Scanning Service for copyright material which is made accessible through the module reading lists.

For any given module, under the terms of the Copyright Licencing Agency's Higher Education Licence, we are limited to scanning one chapter (or 10%) from a book or one article (or 10%) from a journal issue.

Please note that not all publications are covered by the Licence. To check if a title is covered, click here.(select Higher Education as licence type.)

For Fully Online courses only, the Library may use the Second Extract Service to purchase access to a further 10% of a publication.

Please give the Library advance notice if you require a scan.

For material not covered by the CLA Permissions Search, please contact your Subject Librarian.

Online Reading Lists (Keylinks)

The Library maintains a database of module reading lists which provides active links to catalogue entries for books and journals as well as full-text sources such as articles, book chapters, scanned items and to useful websites. Academic staff who wish to submit a reading list should send it electronically to their Subject Librarian.
