
The Library now has a new subscription to Palgrave Macmillan's 'Skills for Study' online package.
Skills for Study offers an interactive and personalised solution to help students hone their academic and employability skills, especially for those at undergraduate level or anyone returning to academic studies after a long time away form it. This flexible resource is organised into a modular structure with 12 individual modules which can complement existing study skills provision, by providing online access to a high-quality, interactive resource that students can access on and off campus. It allows academic staff to target skills gaps within their student groups, encourages independent study and supports students as they take ownership of their learning. Skills for Study can free up teaching time and improve the quality of assignments and coursework.
Any of the modules can be integrated into a programme, built into workshops or skills sessions and/or used for self-study by students. Each module is made up of engaging activities, exercises, videos, blogs and articles, providing dynamic tuition which will meet the diverse learning needs of all students studying at University. Studiosity is an online service providing students with 24/7 academic writing support either by live one-to-one chat or by uploading a more significant piece of draft writing for review. Each student has 8 credits (per half year) that can be used this semester and each credit gets one support session.
