RefWorks: Adding References

Importing references from Ulster library catalogue

References found in the Ulster Library Catalogue can also be exported into RefWorks.

  1. Open the Library  Catalogue and do your search
  2. Select the book title you want
  3. Click on the Save box
  4. Under the Export options select RefWorks.
  5.  

In Refworks the imported record will appear at the top of the Last Imported Folder

Bulk exporting from ProQuest Complete

To export large sets of records from the databases on the ProQuest Complete platform, users need to create a personal account. Once signed in to 'My Research account', up to 20,000 records can be exported at any one time.

Due to licensing restrictions, records from some databases on platform are not available for export.  You will need to deselect these databases before you bulk export.

Exporting References to Refworks

When exporting from the library catalogue and databases you will be offered a choice between sending your references to Legacy RefWorks or New RefWorks.  Choose the blue box, "Yes, Export to the newest version of RefWorks"

Adding references from Usearch and EBSCO databases to Refworks

  1. Sign in at the top right of the screen.
  2. Select the articles you want to export by clicking on the blue folder icon on the right - it will turn yellow.
  3. Go to My Folder at the top right of the screen.
  4. Select the reference(s) you want to export.
  5. Export using the Direct Export to Refworks option.

Manually adding a reference to Refworks

  1. Select Add > Create New Reference. The Reference Editor appears.
  2. Select the reference type. The remaining fields on the sidebar change depending on the type you select. The fields Attachment, Tags, and Title are always available.
  3. Fill in as many of the remaining fields that you can.
