How to use Document Delivery - Transcript

In this short video, I would like to show you how to access and use the library's electronic journals catalogue. Once you have located the library's home page at Ulster.ac.uk/library under the Quick Links menu, you will find a link to the Electronic Journals catalogue. Simply click on the link to launch the tool. Our electronic journals finder is a resource that allows you to find electronic journals where you can browse all volumes and issues of a journal where the library holds content. You can then browse issues of a journal or search within a journal for further content.

If you're presented by an Open Athens authentication screen, simply type in Ulster and click on the presented link for Ulster University and you should gain seamless access to the resources. In the Journal catalogue, you will find a single search box, and here you should enter the name of the electronic journal that you're looking to access.

For the example, I am looking for the Journal The Black Scholar, and you can see that I have been presented with auto suggestions and I can click on the auto suggestions or just click search. The next screen will show you the library's holdings for this particular journal. And you can see that I can access the Black Scholar from three places within the library's collection.

Please take note of the grey information on the right hand side of the screen. This denotes the library coverage. You can see in the first link the library has coverage from 1969 to the present, but there is a delay of eight years. So I'm going to select the last link where I can get access to the Black Scholar from 1997 to the present. Just click on the blue hyperlink to access the collection.

Here I can see all issues of the Black Scholar. In order to browse an issue I can click on the expanded option. Go into the individual issue. And access articles from the full text pdf. If I go back to the Journal page, I can also search within the Journal for a particular keyword, author, DOI or Orcid ID, and I can also browse individual issues.

Within individual volumes. If you need any further help in accessing or using the electronic journals catalogue, please contact library help or contact your subject librarian.
