UK Research and Innovation is providing an open access fund for monographs, book chapters, and edited collections. They have dedicated approximately £3.5 million annually to support open access publishing of long-form publications across the UK.

Maximum funding levels available:

Diamond / non-BPC OA model | £6,000 for the first output. An additional £3,000 may be claimed if two or more UKRI publications from your institution are being published |
For monographs and edited collections, authors/institutions may claim up to £2,000 from the above limits to clear copyright for any third-party material if needed. However, it is recommended to include these costs in the research grant application, where possible.
The fund cannot be used to pay any costs associated with the production and distribution of print versions.
STAGE 1
The Open Research Team registers the output(s) with UKRI for funding on behalf of the author. A publishing contract does not need to be signed by this stage.
Details required:
The purpose of Stage 1 is to give the author assurance before a legal contract is signed that the output would be eligible to be supported. No funding is released at this stage.
STAGE 2
The Open Research Team provides final confirmation of publication to allow UKRI to release funds.

The purpose of Stage 2 is to confirm publication to UKRI, which allows to release funds.
Outputs published 7 or more years after the end date of the related UKRI grant are not eligible to be supported by the fund.
