How to use Library Answers - Transcript

In this video, I'd like to demonstrate how you can use the Library Help service in order to find answers to your queries. So when you come to the library homepage, locate the help button in the top menu.

When you click on help that will launch all of the help services that we have in place. For example, Library chat, Library Answers, and this is our knowledge base that hosts all of our frequently asked questions.

And so what you can do is you can look and see some of the featured content you may find useful. In the popular section, you'll find some of the queries that have been searched for most, and then in the recent tab you'll find queries that have been searched for most recently.

On the right hand side of the screen here, we have our library chat service, and when the button is green here, that means that there is a member of library staff available and you can receive a real time response to your question by clicking on this button.

You'll see, there's also further help provided here with other links to services that might be useful.

And as we move to the top, you can see that there are topics listed here as well, which you can access by clicking on the links. But what you can also do is you can use the search box here at the top of the screen to ask a question.

So if you're looking for library opening hours, material we have there in our knowledge base that might answer your question.

So I could click on what are the library opening hours? And I can see that it will take me to the library opening hours page. If I click on the link here. So if I was interested in something Open Athens related. So move down to still haven't found what you're looking for and you select the submit your question button seeing an error message. Provide us with some detail about what that error message is. So that our colleagues can come back to you with an answer to your query via your student email. Next, I'm going to enter my name.

And next, we want to ask you a wee bit more detail about your query so that we can answer it as best we can. Is it access to E-resources? Is it using our library or something different? So this one is about access.  What faculty are you with? And then the campus that you're based on. And finally, we ask for your student I.D. And if you are a student, that will be your B number. click on Submit Your Question and that will be entered into our library help system. And someone will be in contact with you via your email address in order to answer that query.

If you need further support, please do click on the Help tab on the library homepage. And you can see all of the different methods that you can use in order to contact us.
