LHS Reusable Content: Open Athens authentication

Open Athens Authentication video

Open Athens Authentication video transcript

In this short video I would like to demonstrate how you can find support for OpenAthens authentication. OpenAthens is an access management system used by some UK universities for controlling access to online services and resources.

When you come to the library homepage at Ulster.ac.uk/library.

At the top of the page under the banner headings if you click on E-Resources.

And scroll down the page, you will find a section that says an OpenAthens guide.

If you click on the guide you will find different types of support for helping you in your OpenAthens authentication.

Authenticating to OpenAthens enables you to access many of the library's online databases,

electronic journals and e-books seamlessly without further challenge of usernames and password.

When authenticating to OpenAthens, you will see a generic OpenAthens login screen, just like the one here on the screen at the moment.

Where you're prompted for your institution's name type in Ulster.

And when a link for University of Ulster is provided, click on the link and you will be affiliated to Ulster University's Institutional Login.

if you are having difficulty you will find a troubleshooting page, at the bottom of this page, or you can contact your subject Librarian.
