Centre for Print Research
The main focus of research at the CFPR concerns the development of quality, fine print.-this is primarily undertaken from a fine art perspective but industrial considerations are also examined. The reappraisal of forgotten printing processes and standards in the light of modern technological developments is another important part of the research, for example, Woodburytype, Collotype, Photo ceramic relief casting and photogravure. The Collotype Project is an AHRC-funded investigation into the application of the now industrially obsolete collotype printing process. The website explains the collotype's history and process before elaborating on the way in which it might be updated for contemporary use.
