Aileen Allen, Lady McCorkell, OBE was the founder and first President of the British Red Cross branch in Derry-Londonderry.
The collection comprises her personal notes, speeches, correspondence, minutes of Red Cross meetings, and traces the development of Red Cross services locally within the city of Derry~Londonderry but also more widely in Northern Ireland.
It also contains her personal reminiscences of providing support for vulnerable people from the early 1960s, throughout the Troubles and into the post conflict society.

The Red Cross Collection is not open for general use. Only Ulster University academic staff, PhD research students and Ulster Associate staff have browsing access. All other Ulster staff and students should contact the Information Point and complete a request slip for items they wish to see. Last retrieval of material is 30 minutes before the end of staffed Library hours.
All the material is strictly for use in the Consultation area only. The Consultation area closes 30 minutes before the staffed Library hours end.
