Person-to-person communications do not provide recoverable data and so are not included in the reference list.

You should therefore:

• Cite personal communications in the text only.

• Give initials as well as the surname of the communicator and provide as exact a date as possible. It is advisable to include copies or summaries of these in Appendices.

For example: According to V. Pickert, the computer technology within cars permits easier tailor-made adaptions for disabled drivers (Personal communication, 18 May 2017, see Appendix 3).
