Life and Health Sciences Harvard Referencing Guidelines: Tables

Life and Health Sciences Harvard Referencing Guidelines

Tables

For the purposes of academic work, data in vertical columns and horizontal rows (with headings for each) are labelled as ‘Tables’.

When using selected information from a table, a reference must be made to the source.

Tables should be referenced in a similar way to quotations taken from a published work. For the in-text citation include the page number the table can be found on as well as any identifying information about it such as table number. For example, p.120, table 9.1.

Please note, if the table being referenced is from a website, it will not have page numbers. In these cases, page numbers cannot be included in the in-text citation.

The required elements for the reference are:

Author Surname, INITIALS. (Year) Title of book. Edition (if not first). Place of publication: Publisher.
